headlights are acting up

Recommended Posts

86 gl... the passenger headlight went really dim out of nowhere:confused: my best guess is a relay, but which one? its so dim the cops dont like it. (bulb replaced today and problem is still there.)

in stock configuration the headlights are not switched through relay's (and if they were, the light would go out, not dim)

most likely a ground issue, check all the major grounds and the mounting points of the headlamp casing (it grounds through the shell)

Yeah - there's one relay for each side under the dash. Look up behind the fuse box. I've seen that before and it's usually the relays.

When I did my EJ22 swap. I disturbed a lot of the wiring under the dash. My passenger side light was dim, but did both high and low. It was the relay under the dash, it had slipped out of it's socket. I didn't find out till it fell out on my feet. Check the relays, I almost gaurentee that's what it is.
