I was always under the impression the ej22's were non interference, but it hit me that I really dont know.. So is my ej22t an interference or not?? If not I should prob change the belts

yes, i believe only the dohc's are self destructors.

but its always a good idea to stay on top of your belts.

But yes, the EJ22T's are non-interference. Every subaru engine up to 1997 (not including the 2.5) is non-interference.

I would for sure keep up on your belts. Non-interference or not my 96 threw the belt and took the valves with it.

True. But in 1997, the EJ22 went to intereference, and it was SOHC.
