clunky 4WD on 85 GL Wagon

Featured Replies

hey all now im moving to ? about the GL. last week we ran it in 4wd with no probs. we pulled into a parking lot and then the car did not wanna go into reverse or any of the 4ward gears when the 4wd was engaged once we disengaged the 4wd the car ran just fine. i need to know what it could be because i dont wanna lose my 4wd on this one because its a d/r.

It's called torque bind, and it's 100% normal. The D/R is a full 4WD, it is not AWD, and is not designed to be used on high friction surfaces. It should only be used on snow, gravel, dirt, mud, or other slipper surfaces. Just like any other 4WD truck or SUV.
