As I recall, the answer to that is yes, and in the older versions (pre 1995-1996) they were a screen and not recommended to be replaced.

what he said. Internal "filters" (they are screens actually) are not meant to be replaced ever. The spin on filters are, but even they have long intervals.

The spin-on filters, found on the phase2 4EATs, are externally mounted.

Thanks. I just did the ones in my Grand Cherokee at 90k, it has two actually, they were DIRTY!!!

 

Fresh and clean now! Just be happy the Roo has a drain plug - the Jeep does not.
