Can't shift - new clutch related?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Had my clutch replaced (along with blown head gaskets, for those who are keeping track :) on my 97 Leg GT (200,000km) last month.

After a 300km trip today I stopped to get gas, and after starting the car I couldn't get it into 1st. After a bit of wrestling, I got it in and drove the short distance home, noticing that it's almost impossible to shift, even with the motor idling.. I had to turn it off to shift it in reverse to park.

Does this sound like it's due to the clutch install, or could it be something else? It was an independent suby shop, not dealership.. driven less than 1000km since the work was done and no problems till now.

Thanks!

Sounds like a clutch problem. Do you have any fluid in the resivoir for the clutch cylinder?

Its not uncommon for the hydraulic clutch to go bad after a new clutch. It is possible that you have a leak. Not being able to shift at all sounds like a hydraulic issue or a clutch fork issue.

Thanks, I checked the clutch fluid reservoir and it's full.
