2000 Forester Not Starting

Featured Replies

I just installed a CD player in my girlfirend's Forester. While she was driving home the volume required to hear the audio increased, and when she came back for me to look at it, the car refused to start. The starter clicks like its binding. Could this be due to me mis wiring the stereo? Sounds far fetched to me, but any input would help since the car is stranded in my driveway!

Take a hammer & tap the starter. If it starts, it's probably the starter solenoid contacts....and it was just a coincidence about the stereo.

If it doesn't start, there's a likely chance you may have a short or a draw that is draining the battery.

the 95 legacy i just bought ,the stereo or cd player stays on all the time ,unless you turn it off , i have to leave a cd in it and then turn it off , make sure you wired it up correctly , becuse mine would run the battery down

Check battery connections: make sure they're clean and tight. Does everything else (A/C blower, windows, etc) work properly? Will the vehicle take a "jump" start? Next suspect item is the alternator.

Turns out its a low battery and a bad CD player. Charged the battery, exchanged the player and all is well. Thanks guys!
