January 12, 200719 yr disty bolts were taken out and while trying to start it the disty shaft jumped and lost timing. whats the easy route?
January 12, 200719 yr Cotton ball in #1 spark plug hole. (just up top). Turn the motor over by hand, when the cotton ball poofs, point the disty rotor in the general direction of where the #1 spark plug wire goes on. Start the car and adjust.
January 12, 200719 yr Author that should help! thanx. i thought of using my finger and hookin a wire up to the starter and goin that way but that should work easier:) thanx
January 12, 200719 yr or just put the motor to the right timing spot (I forget what it is...~10* for carbs, and 20* for FI?), and then point the rotor. no need to take out a plug or anything. I've done it that way a couple times.
January 12, 200719 yr Author well the engine had been set up with SPFI and now has a carb set-up on it...
