2000 Forester Transmission

Featured Replies

At stops, trannie sometimes seems to slip into neutral. Only gear that works is reverse. After shifting several times into reverse, then neutral, then park, or in reverse order, it kicks back into drive. Only does this when car has been running for 10 minutes or longer. Any ideas?

so no one wants to deliver bad news?

First make sure the tranny is full of fluid

Next what color is the fluid

Its sounds like your front pump is shot (if you have plenty of fluid). Lets hope that your low on fluid.

nipper

everything nipper said. trans fluid should be checked immediately.

the shift linkages/gear selector switch on the passengers side of the transmission should be checked as well. does the transmission light ever blink at start up? if so, get the codes after checking the fluid first.
