I have a 98 outback that I want to change the thermstat on. It looks like it is located under the intake manifold. Is that where it is and does the intake have to come off to get to it.

Follow the lower radiator hose to the engine. Its in that housing, 2 10mm bolts. Make sure you burp the system when you refill it so you get all the air out. Lots of post on doing that.
