I changed oil for the first time on my '07 H6 Outback and found that I needed 6.5 quarts of oil to get to the full level on the dipstick. The manual says that the capacity is 5.8 quarts. My '02 H6 Outback always took 6 quarts to reach the full level. Does this sound reasonable or normal?

Capacity is 5.8 qts, then you have the oil filter ....

I just changed the oil & filter on my GF's 05 H6 Outback. Yeah it took close to 6.5 qts to get it to the full line.

 

Subaru used to list the oil capacity including the filter....but it looks like they may have stopped doing that, or screwed up.
