March 8, 200719 yr I just replaced my oil pump a week ago. When it was first on it, it was producing no less than 24 PSI. Now, it registers zero hot idle-1000RPM(mine idles at the mark, which is at about 300RPM I'd hazard to guess). Any possible ideas? Thanks in advance.
March 8, 200719 yr When you replaced the pump, how was the seals? I hear of micky's ears being sucked in. There is a very inventive fix for that floating around here. Calls for drilling the hole bigger, then inserting a very short length (almost just a ring) of copper pipe to prevent the sucking in of the seal. Is your car really idling at 300rpm? I think that should be up around 600-900rpm. Has your idle changed at all? And how much do you trust your psi guage? Those go sometimes too. Try swapping the sender from that GL. Or put in a "real "psi guage. Just don't route that cheap plastic tubing into your car! It WILL heat up and pop. Try to use copper tubing.

I wouldnt trust the stock oil gauge at all. Mine sat at 10 PSI at idle, the aftermarket one (with SS lines) registers 40 PSI. Are you Shure that the Aftermarket is Well Calibrated? 40 PSI seems to be very High to an Engine at Idle ! Other thing that Directly affects the way Oil Pump Performs, is the Oil that is Used; for Example: if it is 5W~30 the Pressure will be Higher than if it is 20W~50 for Sure. So, which Oil are your Engine usin´ ?
March 9, 200719 yr Author Well, at the moment I am using 10w30, I do think the sender could be bad, as when I had the old pump in there, it would register below 0 PSI. The thing is, I had 24PSI or higher for about a week, and then I started noticing it was zero at idle. By the way, Milemaker, very smart thinking, I definately did not have the mental capacity to realize that I have two EA81s, . I definately am quite dumb:rolleyes: . Thanks, I shall try that when I am not lazy...
