clutch throw out bearing sound?

Featured Replies

So I had my clutch replaced about two weeks ago this friday. It woerks fine but I notice a sort of whirring or whistling sound. It is not always present and when it is if I press on the clutch just a bit the sound is gone. I've spoken with the guy who did and he said he could help but didn't seem to think it was a concern. Shuold I be worried about future complications with this?

There should be no noise. Confirm the throut bearing is properly seated on the fork with both clips. If it is still there you need to replace it.

Yea, I second that. Something isnt right, hard to say excatly though. Could be he didnt lube correctly. Could be a bad bearing. It's not "nothing to worry about" though. It could be something that wont fail the bearing till 20,000 miles later....then for sure you cant take it back.

I had to replace a throwout w/ 60,000 mi on it that was making the same whirring/whistling noise while it was unloaded. Sound would go away with the slightest touch of the clutch pedal. When I tore it apart all the lube points were bone dry and the races of the bearing were loose.
