CamoMan
99OBS rear passenger seatbelt stuck and wouldnt pull out, tried everything. Other side was and still is fine. So i pay rediculous $120 from dealership for new one. This part may be my fault i dunno, but, a year later (today) i decide to install it, now its stuck. Tried everything and it wont pull out enough to bolt bottom side down. It worked fine i remember when i bought it just tilt it around the right way and it would go in and out, but today nothin. So i went ahead and tried to install it and still nothin. I really dont wanna buy another and not sure where receipt is, they prob wont take it back anyway. Any suggestions? Why do they stick? nipper
The way the the belt works, is that there is a very small counter weight that "locks" the belt. This is the inertia lock. You have to hold the belt retractor just right to get the belt to unwind. If you look closely you can see the swing weight. It helps tyo look at the postion of the belt as installed in the car to get it to release, as sometimes they are not at a right angle in any plane. nipper
CamoMan
Ya, i can tilt it where the counterweight releases the little red hook but the big brass catch still clicks and locks, just like on the old stuck one. I even installed it and it still sticks, as does the old one, when all the other 3 are working fine. I remember cheking it when i first got it and i could get it to work fine when holding it , and i had the old one out to compare and the old one still stuck, but now it acts just like the old one nothin i can do to make it stop catching. I'm hesitant to buy from a junkyard cause my son sits back there. Guess thy're gonna get me for yet another hundred bucks >< I may as well be makin car payments lol. nipper
Take it back to them and explain the situation, they may actually make it work for you.
