Ive put in 2 disty this month!! for some reason they keep burning out? is this because of the hotcoil? msd . Itll will start then ill push the gas down and it sputters and shuts down, and thats the end, same thing happend like 3 weeks ago and I had to change disty, and it fired right up

Are you running the .8ohm ballast with the MSD Blaster? From the info I've gathered on here (prepping to put one in myself), pre-1988 cars will burnout the points using a Blaster if the ballast isn't used. You'll also want 8mm plug wires. Here's the relevent thread:

I believe the ballast is only needed when you have a points type disty.

I would double check your wiring connections, make sure you have it wired correctly.

A little more info on the model and year would be helpfull also.

Electronic disty, no points. Believe it's the reluctor.

BTW, it's a borrowed JDM EA71 in an '87 STD Hatch. Nippy and Hitachi disties.
