I want to buy some 27x9.50R15LT Super Swamper SSRs. Is it generally cheaper to pay Washington state their 8+% sales tax or to pay for shipping?

 

If it's cheaper to pay the tax, who sells Super Swampers in the greater Seattle area?

 

If it's cheaper to pay shipping, what sites should I watch for deals?

Just an FYI - those are wider than you wildcats, so you'll probably have to do some more cutting and beating.

Hey! Maybe I should just drive down to oregon and buy some. that's an alternative I had not thought of.

That's what I would do. And get them from a 4WD truck shop. That way you can get a warrantee on them that covers anything - sidewall punctures - massive blowouts - etc.

Any shop recommendations? Preferably a shop close to I-5 not too far South of the border. I also need another 15x8 chrome US Wheel Modular 94-97-90 (LINK). At least I think that's what Mudrat79 used.

I don't know of any no - I haven't bought any swampers.

 

I don't think John used 8" rims - those wildcats aren't much more than 6.5" wide at the tread - maybe 7". I'm running basically the same tires on 15x6" US Wheels 70 series steels. Got mine for $25 each at the Tire Factory in Beaverton.

 

I used a 7" rim on a 215x75R15 wildcat that I got used for my spare.... and that's awful wide - wouldn't want my rim sticking out any more than that. 8" would be far too much I think. Get as narrow of a wheel as you can or you will break beads, and smack your rims on rocks and stuff.

How about a trip north of the boarder? I've heard of guys getting good deal on snow tires that way, but I haven't priced swampers or checked the exchange rate.

You are probably right GD. I am not sure of the wheel width. The point is, I just need one more of the same so I have a set of five. I'll drill the fifth to match the four I got from Mudrat.

 

Once I get new tires and wheels I'll be "done" until I get my new long block or unless/until I stumble accross an LSD...

Hmmm...that's another good idea (and a nicer road trip IMO). I have a buddy who is way into Diesel Land Cruisers. He's got a connection in Canada who builds and exports them to the US. He might be able to help. Thanks!

It it's a spare - just grab any old steel 6 lug that is 6" or 7" - that's what I did. I got a whole tire + rim + mounting for $25 at a used tire shop.

I'd kind of like to have them all the same so I can do a five wheel rotation to keep the tread wear as even as possible.
