Name that vacuum connection

Featured Replies

Could someone please save me from playing another round of deduction and tell me which vacuum controls the heater and defroster vents. Everything blows through the vents now, after I broke down in Denver and let a mechanic work on the car.

Thnx.

assuming you mean ea82...

there's a white canister to the rear of the passenger side front wheelwell near the firewall that holds the vacuum pressure for your vents...

if you've got a push-button 4wd then there's 2 lines, one for the 4wd and one for the vents... but only one line going into it from the manifold...

lots of times it's the canister that won't hold a vacuum...

with me I had a problem with defrost not working, and on turbo models there's a special diaphram behind the glove box and mine was torn...

Or maybe the hose to the canister was left unconnected. D'oh!

Yeah, ea82. 1985.

Don't think there's a white canister back there. But whatever color it is, the hoses attached to it are connected to something. I'll check it tomorrow. No switch for 4wd on this model.

Thanks! Got it. Just plugged it into one of the connections I'd cancelled out the last time I played VACUUM DEDUCTION.
