My beast.

Featured Replies

Someone help me out here.

I've been driving my beast on and off again for about 2 years She's a 1981 DL wagon, She's ugly and Rusty and Noisy, But.... everytime I think about upgrading she does something to remind me why I love her... Lets see I have done all this...

1. motor Twice!

2. Carb,

3. Coil,

4. Rebuilt the front axles.

5 Installed lights, Guages, tach, stereo.

and other things that I have probably forgoten about. I work at a dealership now and I feel bad parking her next to all of these nice cars... making her sad, so she blows a hose, windsheild starts leaking, tires go low. wierd electrical problems appear out of nowere....

What do you all think I should do? should I turn my ranger into a daily driver and Fix all the little things with my DL or should I replace her with a newer car and take what I need and scrap her...

I Think to Fix it Up will be the Best Option, if I where on your Situation, I´ll Fix the Subie instead of Scrap it.

I love taking mine to the dealership. nothing more fun than buying a part and parking next to $15-25,000 cars. especially when yours cost $250 you can repair anything that goes wrong, and it's faster than 75% of the stuff on the lot if you want it to be. every one in the collection is fun. maybe she feels the guilt. feel the pride in what you've done for that car.

My thing is though, I'm tired of the looks I get in her. people making fun of me and stuff. I work in a shop and the what can you get for $150 bucks excuse doesn't work any more

I wave my middle finger in the general direction of the stuffy people who give snotty looks at old subs. I take my brat to the dealership and make the unfriendly/unhelpful schmuck at the counter look up part numbers when ever I need them. He generally huffs something like "Our computer doesn't go back that far." I always inform him that it does and he generally gets me the number, and a rediculous price for the part I need.

I say keep the sub and fix it up! Old subarus that have lasted this long deserve it!

I want to but its getting to the point I need a new alternator, carb, body work, good reseal, I want the 5 speed dual range, My brakes are soft, I'm just wondering if maybe money would be wiser spent elsewere.

I would love the red one but I have no trailer

I can't count the times that I have gotten stupid looks for driving my GL-10, but I don't care. The car fits me like a glove. I love everything about it. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I will keep that thing running until they quit making parts for it, and even then, I'll figure out a way to keep it running. It's my favorite car in the world!
