I've done exactly the same with the opposite end...

The trunk lock wouldn't work anyway, so I took out the lock and covered up the hole.

ok, my hood was a little FUBAR when I got the car so Andrew gave me the old one off of his '77 wagon. His wagon was silver and he painted the middle raised portion of the hood black and he also painted the side vents black too. Not my doin cause my car hasn't gotten and bodywork done to it yet except some better, straighter fenders from a 78 Brat that are the same silver color. Just haven't gotten the time to do the bodywork or primer it one color.....but all that will come after my "secret" work I'm doin on it:brow:
