Auxiliary lighting for '00 Outback? Light pods/bars? How about foglight upgrades?

Featured Replies

Just as the title says...are there any bumper-mount or hood-mount light pods/bars that y'all know of for the '00-'04 Legacy/Outback body style? I can find millions for Imprezas, but how about rally-style light kits for Outbacks?

Also, my foglights are toast. Are there any powerful foglight conversions or upgraded lights? Again, Impreza kits are everywhere, but the Outback stuff is difficult to find.

Good luck on your search - I'd be interested to hear if you find anything.

I've considered adding some driving lights from this place - http://www.rallylights.com/

Maybe some Hella 500's to replace my fog's.

Thanks for the link. I'm eagerly searching for someone who has upgraded/added lights, but nothing yet. I'm checking out the Outback forums at several locations.

Where did you run the wires for the roof lights? Very nice.

10awg insustrial plasma cutter grounding wire (rubber coated), velco straps ever foot or so on the drivers side roof rail (i wanted them quick-on/off), down into the hatch fromthe end of the roof rail (it gets pinched so you need good wire, rubber coated), once it's into the hatch area, under the piston there's a trailer wiring harness (going to make it two, to pass more current), the other half of the wiring goes in through the brake light gasket, runs back up the back pillar, across the roof, down the a-pillar, down to the relay/switch mechanism, from there it busts through the side firewall gasket (you have to take the fender off to get all of that stuff), then along w/ all the other wires that go through, over to the battery/fusebox area.

hope that makes sense

and yes, it's ALOT of wire, that's why you use use as LEAST 10awg

Yo, nipper - how did you mount those? Did you drill holes in the bumper?

Sweet setup, andyjo! I likey! I'm mounting some to my Yakima cargo basket, but your wiring is GENIUS! I still want more, though. On the bumper, the hood, and anywhere else I can fit 'em.

Thanks, dudes!

Let the other ideas roll! I WANT MOOOOOOOORE!

How about my other car? ;)

I'm tellin' you, roof mounted lights rock!!

and when i had lights on my front (stock) bumper on the impreza, i drilled a hole through the plastic & foam, and put a big plate w/ a hole in it on the bottom side (as a huge washer).

(The KC's used to be on the stock bumper, seen below)

I was prepared to remove the bumper skin adn do it properly, but i figured, lets see what happens. I drilled holes two sizes smaller then self tapping screws supplied. I drove them in, being careful not to go apesh*t whenm tightening them. They have been there for 2 years now and are nice and tight.

I was thinking...since the grille is attached to the bumper on these cars, maybe someone could fab up a light bar that "grabs" through the grille and behind it. It would be much simpler than the Impreza bars, since the grille is separate from the hoods on those cars.

Does anyone want to draw up something like that? I have no idea how.

Yeah, it's attached.

I don't think it is on your car, but it is on mine.
