November 30, 200718 yr Went up to Bear Reservoir today to do some fishin. Here's a few pics of the trip. Water level was rather low. Elevation of 6,000 feet or so. Never took the 86 that high up and had an interesting experience. The idle jumped up to around 3k rpms up around 5500ish. Thought something broke but when bake down to regular elevation idle was back at 750 . Had a blast and my neighbor caught a 16 inch German Brown.
November 30, 200718 yr interesting, i've never had my idle get higher at higher elevations... easier to stall and power loss, but never a weird idle...
November 30, 200718 yr same thing happend to my 86 might be the float on your carb going up hill the iddle would rise , down hill it would level out
November 30, 200718 yr Author same thing happend to my 86 might be the float on your carb going up hill the iddle would rise , down hill it would level out Nope, even on level ground it would do the same thing. My neighbor thought I might have bent the accelerator rod (?) due to the fact that the throttle actuator would not return to "stock position". We thought it was the cable binding but realized it was good to go. It was still a fun trip and the car's idle is back down to 750 as I said, so....... I'll take her up again next week or 2 maybe and see what happens.
