Ea81T problem

Featured Replies

I have an 83 turbo brat and its having a power problem. It runs pretty good, however, it has no power between 1k rpm and 3k rpm. Once you get it past 3k and the turbo is in full force, the car runs normal. The problem is apparant when the car is cold or hot. The problem is worse on hills. The turbo appears to boost normally. It dosnt sputter when its not responding, just takes its sweet time getting to 3k rpm. The brat has the 3at. Was hoping you all could help me define my problem.

Sounds like a MAF issue. ECU ignores it after a certain RPM, 3700 on EA82, maybe 3000 for ea81?

Has your ECS light come on at all? You might want to connect the green, two pole connectors under your dash and see if you pull any codes. There is a procedure for checking the flashes and codes in the USRM.
