is there any upgrades for the bottom end of a 2.2 such has the cams/crank and so on. if so where? any links?

Cams I would suggest checking out delta cams that do regrinds. They do some good work. There is quite a bit you can do to those motors you will have to look on some of the impreza boards or legacy boards to learn more most likely.
