Tachometer hook up (ea81 to ej22 swap)

Featured Replies

So I have located the black wire coming out of the EJ's ECU labeled tachometer on the wiring diagram and connected it to the solid yellow wire that came off of my EA's coil and my tachometer still doesn't work.

Is there something else I need to hook up or what am I doing wrong?

thanks, earl

what am I doing wrong?

you need to stop twisting and taping your wires, that's what's wrong.

ok now i'll let the real people that know what they are talking about answer

Everything I've read says it just hooks straight up to the ECU tach signal as you have it. Perhaps a ground issue is at work here.

Check your wiring again. On my EJ25 swap there are 2 wires going to the EJ dash, and one was for the spedo. Are you sure you grabbed the tach signal for the dash as well?

I'm not sure. I just hooked the one wire that ShawnW labeled as Tachometer up.

Are you meaning the wire to the coil itself, under the hood? Wire it to the tach signal wire under the dash that goes to the cluster, I don't have my FSM handy so I don't know what pin it is on the connector to the cluster.
