March 17, 200818 yr Water comes out the exhause pipe, a decent amout. Looks like you took a spray bottle and sprayed everything in its exhaust path. Then it stops....kinda. The last 2 times i drove it hard snow bashing it over heated even with it bing 10 degrees out. Are these good signs i might need to replace the head gasket? Thanks Orion
March 17, 200818 yr Yes, it's a sign that you MIGHT need to change the head gaskets. You'll want to rule out other things first.
March 17, 200818 yr H2O is a byprduct of the catalytic converter, and you would expect to see some comming out of the tail pipe, expecially during cold weather, since the water will condense quicker. Better to look at the dipstick and oil cap for milkshake sludge.
March 17, 200818 yr Author If no milkshake do you think im ok? If i took the valve covers off could i tighten down the head bolts? Would that help if it is going bad?
March 17, 200818 yr Did you check and see if there are coolant droplets on the dipstick when checking oil?
March 17, 200818 yr A slight amount of water on the dipstick does not necessarily mean anything other then there may be condensation present from the cold. Check your coolent for any OIL (it will float to the top), does your exhaust smell sweet? milky crap on oil cap? compression test? If so R&R head gasket and check for warped heads
March 17, 200818 yr Hell, my car'll smoke and drip water out of the tailpipe for fifteen minutes on a cold start sometimes. +1 for the condensation. And my compression pretty much all reads 175 or so.
March 17, 200818 yr Not enough info to go by here. Overheating while *snowbashing* could be from a snow obstructed radiator. Water from the exhaust is normal in mot cases. Any grey smoke? Los of coolant? Overheating under *regular* driving? Those would be signs of a bad HG. But I'll say this, overheating it make it more likely that they will blow if they haven't yet.
March 18, 200818 yr Author Well as soon as it stops snowing ill dig into her and see what i can find. I hope its all ok.
