What would you pay for an EJ22T-swapped '97 Legacy (pacific northwest)?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at a car. It's a green '97 Legacy. The car has 200k miles and the swapped EJ22T has approx. 130k. The car runs beautifully, the body is fair to good and the interior is good. The car isn't pristine, nor is it thrashed. It's about average for an 11-year-old car.

My problem is, I have no idea what it's worth. The NADA used value on the car (no provision for a swap) is $2575-$3575. Should the swap affect that much?

What would you PNW guys pay for that car? (And no, I'm not telling you where it is, you sneaky sonsofguns...)

Heck, if an expert in Subaru-swapping around Spokane would like to come spend a half-hour checking it out, I'll even roll you some bones for the kind gesture.

Thanks, guys.

Ok, so it just a legacy. 200K and a 11 years old. I would say 2K if it has no rust and the tire's are half descent. The engine swap does not scare me.

+1^.....i agree....about 2k is all i would go up to.........

Did you $2K guys notice that it's an EJ22T? As in the turbo engine from the old Legacy Touring Sedan/Wagon? It definitely should be worth more than a standard legacy (at least to the right person) and definitely more than $2K!

My same thoughts about the $2K max. It is difficult to pay more, because the car has 200K on the odo, the engine some less.

EJ22T seems to command a fair price. I have seen a few wrecked ones and they still want $1500.

it wont pass inspection, if there is any where you are

Nah, where the car is being sold, emissions testing will be an issue, but where I live, no sniff test.

Hey, maybe I can use that as a bargaining point...
