Reset CEL 1996 legacy Outback?

Featured Replies

is is possible to reset the CEL on a 1996 Legacy Outback, W/out taking it to a mechanic? thank you!:dead:

you should be able to unplug the battery for an extended period...like over night. or you could dig into fuses/fusible links and pull the one for the ECU.

if this is for emissions reasons though, there's a chance it may not pass. they can tell if it's recently been cleared.

and of course autozone, advanced auto's and tons of other auto places will read and clear codes for free.

Unplug the battery for 30 seconds it will clear up. Unplug it for 30 minutes and thats a hard reset.

Go someplace that reads codes for free, and they can reset it with the scanner.
