Hello, writing this for my brother, because apparently he's afraid of the internet.

He lives in Sierraville, CA, 40 minutes north of Truckee. His 93 Legacy wagon, MT, is having overheating problems. He had been using a local shop to troubleshoot the problem. I think they changed the Tstat and and followed the directions from this board to fill. Still overheats. Basically all the coolant vanishes and his reservoir is full when it overheats. Mechanic says replace the engine. I said find a local suby shop and get a second opinion.

Any recommendations for Tahoe/Reno mechanics/shops?

Any recommendations on where to buy a used Japanese engine?

Thanks in advance,

hopefully he'll be able to read the responses himself :burnout:

as for a used engine if i does happen to be the head gaskets and something is warped/cracked.....check out the local Junkyards also colorado componant rebuilders and LKQ

There's a shop in Sparks that's real good, Subaru guys own and operate it:

Independent Automotive

865 Bergin Way

Sparks, NV 89431

775-358-8184

Or, in Tahoe:

Norm's Auto Repair (Subaru Specialists)

2186 Ruth Ave

South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

530-544 0953
