Water pump hub height

Featured Replies

I'm wanting to order a new water pump for my '89 GL SPFI. The trouble is that the WP shaft was hacksawed off because the car was wrecked, so I don't know what hub height the pump originally had. Any way to tell?

Thanks,

Andy

The FSM for my 1986 GL wagon shows water pumps with two different hub heights, 105mm for (factory) AC and 110mm without AC (or with dealer AC). However, the 105mm water pump at my local parts store wasn't the same as the one on the car, which has factory AC. It measures 110mm from the gasket mating surface at the bottom to the top surface of the water pump hub.

Leaves me confused . . . Best bet may be try it and see which one lines up with the rest of your pulleys.

I have four EA82s and between them there are 3 different A/C system variations. How do you tell what's factory installed and what's dealer installed?

The best way is (of course) by measuring, but unfortunately in my case the WP shaft was pushed back into the WP in the wreck.

Either shaft length can be used on any car or A/C setup, if you have the right pulley- the 110mm uses studs to hold both the pulley and fan on, and the 105mm has the pulley held on with bolts, and studs threaded into it that hold the fan.
