May 9, 200817 yr So...here's the scoop on my 1986 Turbo Wagon.... Did all new headgaskets, and other gaskets, such as intake, exhaust, turbo, etc. Anyways....so tried to fire it up the other day, and no luck. getting fuel pass the fuel filter (the one in the engine bay) and everything.... so, replaced the fuel pressure regulator....and it started up, and ran...last night was good and stuff...then it started to sputter a little bit. but still ran. This morning, I tried to take it to school. Got a mile away from home, and it started sputtering, and basically just died. So I pulled it to the side of the road. Then, It would barely start up, and then just die. I thought maybe it was out of gas, even though the digidash told me it was fine. Put gas in it...It won't even start now. What the hellllll????? Any help?
May 9, 200817 yr check for fuel past the filter again. re check the fuel regualtor. try pushing the throttle pedal while you try to crank it.
May 9, 200817 yr How did you do the timing? DId you follow MilesFox's procedure? If you Followed the Haynes manual, I can almost guarentee that it was done wrong, I did. Here's the Link to the procedure.
May 9, 200817 yr fuel pump? you can plug a fuelpressure gauge to the hose into the filter and plug in the green test clips to cycle the fuel pump. test it there, then after the regulator(while running the fuel pressure regulator is on the return side of the fuel injectors

Check the MAF tube. Check that fuel line is hooked to correct tube. Fuel line should NOT go to the pipe with the regulator on it. The regulator is on the return side of the injectors.
May 9, 200817 yr on the fuel rail, the line topmost in th emiddle is the supply line, the other is the return line. the smallest of the 3 hoses is the charcoal canister vent line from the tank.
May 10, 200817 yr Another easy thing you can do is see if it will start when you spray some starter fluid into the intake. If it does then the fuel system has another problem. It may be a bad filter near the pump.
