May 26, 200817 yr My 2004 subaru leagcy I want to do a radio swap and its another subaru one, so it should be easy and I checked to see if it will fit my model and it will. It 's out of a 03 outback to my 04 leagcy and I am nervous to pull everything apart. I started to yeserday and I ran into prblems pulling the bezel off arounf the radio and was nervous I would break something, so please help me out so I dont have to have the dealer do it, to save me some money!
May 26, 200817 yr i was nervous the first time i dug into a car also.....im still nervous when i do something i have never done before..anyways the best advice i can give you is take your time.....and if you ever do need help with anything you dont understand, besides here there are host of other forums and posts that are extremely helpful.....Oh also buy a haynes manual for your car....give her a read over and im sure that will make you feel more confidant
May 26, 200817 yr dash removal is a *************** at best but it is definitly doable the manual is a must and just watch out for your cig lighter wire and your climate control connections and i agree with take your time prob an alldayer even with manual till youve done it a couple times good luck ps i am buying a cassette to mp3 adapter so i dont have to pull dash i hope it works??!?gonna stick with the stock cassette player

May 27, 200817 yr Just be gentle, don't use any metal tools to pry at the trim, and you'll be fine. I put a 99 Outback tape deck into my 02 Impreza Outback Sport, with no problems. Remove the cupholder first (two screws), then the vents will just pop out,and after that everything should be obvious.
May 28, 200817 yr It isn't too bad to pull apart, but as mentioned be gentle when prying the plastic pieces out. You might want to check out http://www.crutchfield.com for an install guide, it should help you with the dash removal/re-assembly at least.
