just got my engine in everything hooked up. BUT no run it's a EA82 turbo. I've got fuel and spark, but the disty might be off. I know the firing order is 1342, but what is the orientation on the motor. any tips would be appriciated. thanks jay

#1 is 1st one on the passenger side, odds over there, even on the other side. the front on the driver side should be #2

 

the wire on the back of the cap, closest to the clip/screw. is #1, counterclockwise rotation

The firing order is 1324 not 1342. That might be where you should start looking If you have removed the dist. and reinstalled it then I would also look there more closely. Make sure it is not a tooth or 2 off. Make sure it isnt 180 off.

 

Did you touch the timing belts? If so make sure they havent slipped a tooth and that they are properly installed.
