I got the check engine lite on the dashboard.

At first it was lighted up with the low gas lite,

but I pulled over,restarted the moter and just the check E lite remained.

Went home,unplugged the battery to reset,restart,all gone.

Now this afternoon,Check E lites up again, so mechanic pulls code,

it says fuel sensor or something like that,but it runs fine.

Can this be a new fuel cap?

ps, it just had oil/filter/inspection that passed.

 

and been running the a/c as its hot as a muther round here,and noticed water condense dripping all around underneath the front pipe.

Model and Year of your car would help.

 

If before 1995, have you pulled the codes from the ECU?

sorry, it is a outback 2000. 65k original miles. recalls up to date [o2 sensor]

my mechanic defined what it "said" as if it wasnt getting fuel,which may explain why the lowgas lite came on,even tho the tank is half full.

he showed me the puter reader screen but I got no number,

also said it may work itself out in a few days.

would water in the gas do this?

is there a list of code meanings somewhere?

I cannot overemphasize how convenient it is to be driving along and the cel lights up-look it up on the list of codes I have printed out-circle and put a date next to it and promptly clear the code with my Scangauge II. Who, as a Subaru owner (1996+), doesn't have one of these?

I'd certainly feel limited without my Innova Equus 3130, but not everyone can afford or has sufficient need for an OBD-II code reader or scan tool. Fortunately, places like AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts will usually read the code(s) for free if the CEL is lit.

 

As already suggested, we can be of much more help if we're given the code itself (Pxxxx), not the code definition.
