New Engine

Featured Replies

i have a 89 Surbaru DL, the engine took a crap. i was wondering if i could get the EA82T (turbo) and tranny from with that engine and put it in my car. It was just the EA82 sohc carb a/t. any help would be great thx.

On the tranny side.... you'll need the axles as the Turbo ones are more splines. You'll also need to change the rear diff to accommodate the Turbos final drive.... but, any EA82 will bolt up to any ea82 tranny... so you really don't get anything by swapping the tranny... unless you need one anyway.

On the engine side you can put it in, it will bolt up, but you'll have to wire it. Not a simple task for sure, and it may not be something you want to take on...

you're probably better off that way anyway. EA82T's are problematic now due to age and issues.

89 should be an Fuel injected car. Are you sure about the year?? Are you sure It's not Fuel injected??

It must be a swap if it is an 89 with a carb. Which means it should be wired for an SPFI(not turbo but fuel injected, better thant the carbs) You may have an easy route to a better driving car.

bad idea, the turbo has a different computer and lots of different stuff, if you are going to go to all of that trouble, you might as well do a ej22 swap.

and a 89 will be a throttle body injectoin motor just swap intake manifolds witha jy motor if you can find one.
