Well - here is the product of a couple days last year, last night and a short while this evening:

 

 

Got the bumper when it was white w/some aircraft stripper on it, refurbished it - used the semi-ok bumper end caps, but had to drill new holes in the fenders for thier attachment and beat in some behind-fender tabs to get the brackets to fit. Anyone has one of these bumpers - CONSULT ME BEFORE PUTTING IT ON TO SAVE YOURSELF SOME HEADACHE.... Or you can make fun of me cause I'm a moron, either way:D Any comments, questions??

 

NEXT: Fender trimmage - with a attached question, those who have trimmed them, any tips for keeping the edge not so razor-sharp?

Got a dremel? Thats what i used on my fenders to get the edge out of them.

Yes, very very nice, indeed.

Bratwerst, my wagon has stock suspension that adjusted all the way up, with my 26" tires all i needed to trim was front fenders below the end caps of front bumper. i used a cut off air wheel with a little thin 3" discs, then used a hand held grinder with full size discs to smooth out edges. I marked where the bottom of end caps rest then cut about 1/4" higher to hide behind end caps. it takes about 20-30 min and looks great when finished. hope i was some help. Sean:cool:

Thanks for the tips - I have a heavy duty angle-grinder and metal cutting dics (no air compressor here) so I've got that covered - not sure if I'm going to use my genera-dremel (nikota) or a non-metal grinding disc... decisions decisions

 

Sean - different sacrifices are always made for exactly how we want our cars, even though I have 4 inches of lift in the front, I still need to trim the rearward edge of the fender by about 1/2 to a full inch because I have 6 bolt hubs and toyota truck wheels/tires (have a much more positive offset than pugs/stock soob wheels) So they swing out and smack the rear and give me an awful nice "magic fingers" kinda sensation in my ride :-p - You're tips are valuble and that wagon of yours is sharp!!! (not sure if you noticed by the spec of turn sig. but there is an 81 right next to my 82 in the garage) and yes, I'm a soob-pic junkie.

Erik, if your wanting to trim the whole fender well then the way Soobme (Toni) has done this cutting is with air sheerers. You said you dont have air then they have electric power ones. They are sheet metal sheerers or maybe even labeled nibblers, when i was doing HVAC we got ours anywhere they sell sheetmetal supplys. Or be a pro and use your grinder, make a 1" line folloing your wheel well and go slow. Good luck let me know how it comes along, which ever route you go:headbang: Sean

mine was done with a peice of crap set of "left turn" craftsman snips.. oh yeh... lots of battle wounds will come with it.
