value of a 2000 legacy. update cheap LSi 1996

my favorite body style in the legacy

what are these going for in the 100k mile range? with a stick shift?

$5,000 - $8,000 market value. obviously you can get deals or pay more through searching. it's easier to get a deal on a wagon, there's more of them out there.

it's highly dependent on which one too. a brighton wagon could probably be had for $4,000. a decked out GT Sedan...twice that.

what i do is check autotrader and see what they're going for. there's so many of that range out there it's easy to get a feel for what they're going for by searching there.

okay I may have found me a legacy wagon.

but I need help...

what can you tell me about one called LSi

I tried to search but LSi is too small for the search box...

I know

it's auto

2.2

needs a head

400 dollars

is sedona red with tan leather..

what can anybody tell me about the LSi?

The LSI was the top of the line model in 96. Leather, better paint, better radio and seats. Stuff like that. Should also have the sunroof. Really a very nice package and fairly rare to find.

LSi is the high end legacy. i've got one. it's nice. electric sunroof, 6 disc changer (though annoying because it's under the seat), leather, and they have the EJ25....well i thought they did, you're saying the one you're looking at has a 2.2? mine had an EJ25, i thought the LSi had EJ25 only. maybe it's an LS and not an LSi?

Hold on a minute, if it has a 2.2 it's a MY95, the LSi from 96 on came with the 2.5 which could explain the "needs a head" statement.

zukiru,

If it is a MY96 with a 2.5, do a seach around the board for "headgasket" and research if the car had an overheating issue and for how long before you buy it. You could be looking at other repairs and not just a gasket.

Or at least give us more info on why it "needs a head".

he said if it had been built one month later it would have had the 2.5..

so it's a mid year LSi

rare bird I guess.

needs a head gasket and valves he said... he has several subies and I'm positve he knows a 2.5 from a 2.2

he just doesn't have time to fix it.

something happened to this engine. unlike the EJ25 which can just start leaking and loose a head gasket, the EJ22 won't do that. you'll find that the original problem was not the head gaskets...but something else that caused the engine to overheat, it was driven that way and blew the head gasket. plan on replacing the water pump, thermostat, and hoses/clamps that look suspect, the radiator cap and testing and flushing the radiator.

enjoy the legacy, i like impreza's but the legacy's are a nicer ride.

I'm not convinced to buy it yet... but I may very well... 2.2 short block are plentiful... so that should be fine.

debating.
