Ok So my carb is bad :(

Featured Replies

My brat was dying a lot when cold and was taking forever to start up cause my choke wasnt kicking in. so when i inspected the carb it had a leak internally. so instead of sequentially spraying its just kinda dribbling out so im bogging down a lot.

anyone know if a simple rebuild would fix it or should i just upgrade to the webber?

thanks:-\

so i looked around and found the stock carb for $225 or a rebuild kit for 18.00 haha. and if you have it rebuilt they want to charge you 200.00 for rebuilding and tuning. i've never rebuilt a carb before but with a good how too and a detailed map of the carb i think i can make it work. how hard is it REALLY? haha anyone know of some how to's? ill check you tube but if anyone knows of a good one shoot it my way. please email! haha

drain coolant

remove airbox

remove float chamber cover

remove brass jets and plugs

remove all remaining screws

remove carb

remove drain plugs, and jets behind the plugs

if you turn carb upsidedown, a VERY small ball will fall out, remember where it goes

scatter all parts around, find them, and throw them in the rubbish bin, install webber, adapter, and choke

i could have told you that before you got the car!

seriously these guys will hook you up. get an FSM, someone on here can probably send or copy the page you need. get the rebuild kit or weber and ask specific questions.

how about the SPFI conversion? didn't GD or something do a complete write up, step by step for that? that could probably be done for under $200. better performance, gas mileage, cheaper, more reliable....what's there not to like?
