Impreza at Pick a Part in Olympia

Featured Replies

I saw a pretty intact '96 Impreza sedan today at the Pick a Part yard in Olympia today. EJ22 with an automatic. Pretty decent shape with 175K on the odo. Reason it's in the yard appears to be a massive short in the dash that melted a goodly part of the instrument cluster surrounds. Blue color (code 340). I glommed the marker lights.....sorry.

A massive electrical short in the dash of any 13 year old car with 175K on the odo is a guaranteed trip to the Pick a Part store. With cost of labor these days, there is just no way to economically repair that car. It is best that it is a donor car.

caused by aftermarket alarm almost guaranteed, or poor aftermarket radio install by a kid.

Yea, ditto, on that thought. Subaru OEM factory wiring is well made, and won't short out unless someone has been messing with it.

Absolutely, as evidenced by the mass of heavy guage wiring on the driver's side floor. A real shame since the car looked in pretty decent shape.

Probably an opportunity to pull a working EJ22 out of the car for cheap.

Last week I got a perfect running EJ22 from a 98 OBS at a local U-pull yard that suffered the same fate. Massive dash fire/meltdown from a kid's radio installation.
