Gas Door button

Featured Replies

So the button on my gas door for my 84 Wagon is broken and I would like to replace it with a new one or a locking setup. Anyone have any ideas? I remember reading somewhere about someone having a similar issue but am not going to search 21 pages of topics to find it (meaning yes i searched but after 2 pages of nothing gave up). Thanks.

I once rigged a lock for a mail box (available at the hardware store) up to make a locking fuel door. You have to be a little inventive but it works. Theres always the j-yard if all else fails.

Wrecking yard..that's what I did. ('83 wagon)

By using the stock part, there's no hassle with fitment, and it's a good place to "practice" taking everything apart without damage.

I've just kept my eye open at the yards for a key-lock version, and when I found one, it was a snap to install. To get a key made for it, I just took it to a locksmith and for (IIRC) about 8 bucks I now have 2 new keys for it.

Just my 2 bucks
