i have a 1986 subaru gl wagon that i am swapping and ej22 into from a 1993 subaru legacy. i have everything hooked up but i do not have any spark.i tested at the connector to the coil for battery voltage on the center wire its at 12 volts key on engine off and while cranking it will drop down to 9 volts i used a test light to check for signal to the coil on the two outside terminals when i did that the test light flashed while cranking. so i have everything i need to the coil but no spark. i ohmed out the coil and the primary is at .9 or 1.0 which is out of spec according to haynes manul. spec is .63-.77 ohms. so just in case i took a coil from a 1996 legacy with at 2.5 in it and plugged it in.. has the same connector. still no spark.. so im not sure if it could be a coil does a 1996 coil interchange with a 1993?? please help no sure what to do.?

yes the ECU is working the fuel pump turns on when you key up the car. also i have signal from the ignitor at the coil and battery voltage. but still no spark.. i also put a 1996 coil in it and still it did not spark is it possible that when i crank it the power to the coil would drop out? also is it possible to put the computer from the 1996 into the 1993 just to totally rule out the computer?? also will it make a difference if the transmission is auto in the 1996 and manual on the 1993 for the computer switch?

alright so i searched the forums today and found others with no spark on an ej 22 swap.. so i read them and someone suggested that the 12+ switched wire should be wired to the ignition wiring somewhere and i had it just to a 12+ volt switched wire.. so the coil got 12 volts but when you crank the computer would shut off because it was taking power away from that wire. so i wired it into the wire off the ignition switch and now i have spark.. so thankfully it was something easy to fix and not something expensive.. no i just have to get it to start.. possible fuel problems.. not sure i will look into it tomorrow.. thanks for the help and im sure ill be back for more if more problems arise... :)
