I just stumbled across a bunch of Japanese magazines that I can't read. If I were to scan them, who on the USMB could translate them for me?

This is a perfect Craig's List Barter item. Maybe something like, "will do timing belt(s) for translation, you supply parts, I supply mags"

Also remembered that one of my co-workers dates a Japanese girl and speaks a little too. He helped with a few things, but he can't actually read REAL Japanese characters, just english that has been written in Japanese, so the hunt is still on.

if you have a mac with system 10.5.6, then use the widget "translate" and just type it in... works for me so far

Naw, OS X also has an International System Preference that lets you select different input methods and pallets to use so you can type in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Whateverelseanese and so on. The real problem is that, without knowing Japanese, he'll have trouble translating the thousands of Kanji, Katakana and Hirigana characters into Romanji, so that he can then input them using his English character based keyboard.

huh, neat. But yeah, sounds time consuming...

Go to the nearest chinatown with $40, the characters are the same in most languages, your bound to find someone willing...to read the magazines that is

The characters look nothing alike between Asian languages,

i can't imagine a Chinese dood being able to decipher Japanese.
