Best attack on belts while in frame?

Featured Replies

Easiest way would be to pull the radiator and go that route? Is the oil pump easy enough to do that way, as well? Would rather pull the engine but I dont have any muscle around to help me.

vehicle, what engine, and what are you trying to do?

pulling the engine to change a belt is like pulling the engine to change your oil.

belts are easy, i don't even remove the radiator. although the EA82 is tighter i believe than the XT6 and EJ stuff so it helps some.

clutch fan and timing cover bolts are like the only tricky parts and those are just simple old bolts.

easy job, just start removign stuff, replace whatever belts you want and put back together.

with the timing belts off the oil pupm, water pump, crank seal, cam seals, and cam orings are all accessible very easily. good time to do or check them all.

timing belts definitely can be done with the radiator in. but, since you're doing the water pump anyway (you ARE, aren't you?), the rad will already be drained. pull the grill, radiator, and maybe even bumper, and it get's IMMENSELY more simple.

again, it can be done with the A/C compressor on, but IMHO the extra time spent to remove it is worth the time gained by simplifying the water pump install.

Sorry, ea82 wagon. I've done this before, just never in-frame. Cam seals, belts, oil pump seals, valve covers, crank seal are going to be done.
