Clutch Problems

Featured Replies

1986 GL Hatchback

Was driving yesterday and a noise started from up front towards the drivers side, thought it might be an axle, as I was driving it got worse. Stopped at a stop sign and put the clutch in, as I was putting it in, there was a loud "KINK" and I lost almost all clutch. Managed to get it home all right.

Any suggestions? :-\

Throw out bearing went bad?

Lost one of the spings in the clutch disc?

How many miles on this clutch?

Man, that sucks...

Could have lost the clutch cable retaining nut :-\

I'm kinda lost on this one.

Ummm, might have had a tine/tooth on the pressure plate snap,

and given the history of the hatch, I wouldn't doubt it could happen.

PS: I haven't forgotten about the 5 speed,

I've been replacing/upgrading an alt on the brat.

And fighting it all the way.

I believe clutch is original, meaning 170xxx on it.

Will be looked at this week, thanks for the replies.
