Replacing HG/2.2 engine

Friend has a 97 Legacy with the 2.2 and wants to know if the HG can be replaced without pulling the engine. I've never done it. Any tricks involved? I'll pass on whatever is posted.

Did one about 6 weeks ago and it was really easy. Make sure you get the mating surfaces clean and you will be fine.

Yes you can. You can do a cleaner job with it out, but it is not hard to do HGs in the car on a 2.2
