justinthesubie Posted April 24, 2009 Share Posted April 24, 2009 just got an '88 XT and changed it from a 2wd automatic into a 4wd 5sp transmission and now just need to figure out the wiring.. she runs and drives if i run a hot lead to the starter.. wont start with original wiring.. i would like to change it to a 5 lug and want to know all the details on how to do that as well!! any help is great!! thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
TomRhere Posted April 24, 2009 Share Posted April 24, 2009 You need to put a jumper in, or cut/splice, the wires to the Neutral Safety Switch, which was located on the auto's shifter. The NSS kept the starter from working unless shifter was in Park or Neutral. I can't tell you the wire colors though.... 5 lug swap info can be found in the USRM section of this site. http://subaruxt.com/ An XT/XT6 site, you should also join there.
