April 24, 200916 yr Hi everyone! I am brand new to the USMB and would like to say hi. My subie collection includes a POS 93 Legacy L 2wd. The body is all dented and the timing belt just recently kaput. (pretty sure) My favorite new vehicle is my 88' ea82 3 door coupe. She is gorgeous. Light blue, straight body 176k and of course still running like a champ. I only paid 500 doll hairs for her, but of course for a reason. She leaks oil(of course) and classic 3 door coupe, the windows don't work. But get this, the a/c still blows cold, no conversion. Good thing, the weather has been warming up here. If you're in the PNW you know what I'm talking about. I'm excited to get some post out and meet some like minded Subaru enthusiast. See you on the boards!
April 25, 200916 yr lets see some pics of the coupe... the power windows not working it usually just dirty contacts in the switch... nice that the ac works good... that'll come in handy for the couple weeks of hot weather... is it 4wd or fwd?
April 25, 200916 yr The timing belt on the Legacy will be pretty easy, they are a non-interference engine, meaning that when the belt breaks it doesn't hurt anything in the engine. If you want to fix it, I could give you advice, although if you are interested in selling it, I have a friend who needs a car... As for the power windows, if they both don't work, it's most likely the fuse or the power window relay.
April 25, 200916 yr I'm in town.... look for my license plate (over there... its my avitar) Easiest way to troubleshoot the windows I think it pull the door panel, hook up a battery straight to the window motor... if it moves then the switch is likely the culpret. If not then its the motor.
April 26, 200916 yr Author That is really good to know that it is a non interference motor. I was really discouraged. I would welcome any advice an USMB has to offer to improve my subies. So pm me about the timing belt pointers. I will be pulling out the seat and the carpet soon to get those windows working and hope I don't have to pull the door. A relay or contact would be nice to replace as opposed to fishing wire through door panels.</p> If it is an easy fix on the timing belt I would probably keep the Legacy. The body is beat to ************ but a member in McMinville has the same gen color and all that good stuff so I will see what I can do to make it look a little better. April 26, 200916 yr for the initial testing of the door I dont see any reason why you would have to pull anything other than the door interior panel. even if you have to change the regulators / motors inside I dont see why the doors would have to be removed.
