ok so i finaly got fed up with all the slop in my shifter so i started to investigate. the problem seems to be right out of the trans. the little bracet that looks like a T off the shifter rod.

 

 

ok now my question is (and yes i have tried searching!) this bracet moves waaaaaaaay too much on the shifter rod. and there is a small hole in which it looks like a very small screw goes. felt along the top of it and it felt like there was a hole there too with a screw in it. so does one go there and if so what size is it (thread pitch and such)

 

also the braket that attaches to it has an angled side off of it that looks like a spring goes to it if so again who what when where wtf?

 

o yea its an 86 XT DL mpfi 5 speed fwd blue in color
