3Pin
I bought a 200 OB with bad heads recently. Car has 215K on it and after weighing my options, I sold the old 2.5 and bought a 2.5 with 102K on it. While the new one is out, I was going to do the water pump, timing belt, complete engine overhaul gasket set from subaru, and all of the timing belt pulleys and bearings. I think the cam and crank o rings come with the overhaul kit, but not sure? Do I run into the same plastic seperator on the 2000's as I ran into on the phase I's? Anything else you guys would suggest while she is out of the car? Motor goes back in tomorrow. Thanks
davebugs
Plugs. Seperator will be metal - but I still reseal them. Tensioner? AT 100k I don't see it an mandatory. But be very careful compressing the new style tensioners. I never buy the whole Subaru kit so I don't know what comes in it. I'd imagine still check/reseal/tighten screws on oil pump? idosubaru
i've seen enough new style tensioner failures between 100k-150k that i'd replace it while you're at the timing belt job. the ebay kits are the way to go and come with the tensioner anyway as well as all new pulleys. yes, pull the oil pump and locktite and loose screws in place. then obviously reseal the oil pump.
