This is in regard to a 98 outback limited 2.5 DOHC

 

So i have searched around a bit and heard the timing belt, tensioners, and water pump should be replaced between 60-100k. There is a wide range there because of so many different opinions i heard. So set me right if you know. Is this right? If my outback has 130k, should i get those all replaced? Is there anything else that should be replaced while in this process? Gaskets, oil pump etc? Any help is appreciated.

98 2.5 DOHC is every 105,000 miles for timing belt. It is a good idea to replace the water pump and idlers. You are on borrowed time with that belt if it is original. That is an interferance engine and will be toast if that belt breaks. 60,000 miles is for the 2.2 SOHC engine. Good luck.

Oh thanks! Good to know! Um random question also, any chance there would be a LSD in my package because its a LIMITED? I read on Wikipedia that there is but i believe it was a foreign model. Thanks

change all fluids also, tranny, diff, oil, tune up, ngk plugs, ngk wires, coolant,

get a timing belt kit off ebay. they include the belt, tensioner, and all new pulleys. while you're in there replace the water pump as well, it's right behind the timing belt.

 

behind the timing belt is also the oil pump, crank seal, and cam seals and cam oring. those are all very easy to replace once the belt is off.

 

the oil pump should be pulled and resealed even if the seal isn't leaking due to the screws on the back sometimes coming loose. that requires locktite on any loose screws on the backing plate, a small oring, crank seal, and sealant around the body. it's very easy.

 

the cam seals and oring you can replace only if they're wet.
