05 Legacy GT Brake problems...

Featured Replies

So, other than my brakes on my car giving me issues the car rocks! Have had it for a few years now but just the other day I got a new brake noise. When I apply my foot to the brake a crunching sound comes from only the front right side when I come to a slow stop. If I apply the brake hard it goes away. When its cold out the noise isnt there until the brakes heat up. When it rains there is no noise. The dealer said to lube everything. I did, then the noise came back. I believe its just the brake pads? they are only about a year old with maybe 8k miles on them with plenty of wear left. Any clue whats wrong?

Define "lube everything"

Can be a rubbing rock shield.

you may have picked up a peeble. Pads may have gotten a hard spot.

EXACTLY same problem with my car. Mine is a 94 SS but I put new brake pads. I noticed the issue right after the caliper seized. When I replaced it, I got the rotor cut, and I sanded the pads since they were a tad bit glazed. After driving for a bit started doing exactly the same thing. It is extremely annoying!!!! I suggest you make sure the sliders are fine and the pads are not glazed.

Honestly I think I will get some nice ceramic pads. There was one brand I think it was ATE they were great ceramic pads. Extremely quiet, minimal to no wear after 30,000km, extremely grippy, and best thing was little brake dust!!

I was told to lube the slides and so on. I went down to buy some ceramic pads today. Suppose to be in tomorrow am. Hope this fixes the problem.
