knuckle advice/help

Featured Replies

right front wheel bearing went for the second time in a few thousand miles so time to replace the whole assembly.

I was wondering what years and models would have a compatible knuckle assembly for my 1995 impreza awd 5 speed 1.8l

ALSO,

if anyone has a knuckle they want to get rid of i am in the market as of a few hours ago. Bearing condition isn't critical but would like to get one that i can just bolt up and go for atleast a few thousand miles while i buy a press and replace yet again another bearing.

As always, thanks for all the sage advice!

Where is Bellingham?

I have one with a good RF (97 OBW). 50 bucks if you do the swapping.

Left one was already sold/swapped.

I'm near Pittsburgh.

actually i don't think its the bearing......

did some intense listening witha buddy and feel like its coming from the center somewhere:eek:

It only goes with car speed and not engine rpms.

Took the knuckle off it and felt perfect.

felt each bearing/axle/hub after a highway drive and all felt the same within reason.

noise takes a few to come it but starting to suspect its tranny related.

noise does not change turning left or right

could low gear oil cause excessive gear noise....?

the tranny doesn't leak any oil.

i am stumped right now.

gonna make a list of everything that spins and go through that one by one.

any guesses?

describe the nosie, maybe it's an axle?

did you check the trans fluid - how did it look?

has it ever been changed?

if it's the front diff it won't take long before you know it.
